From the start, this couple made it clear they wanted a wedding that felt unapologetically them—bold, romantic, and a little rebellious. The result was an upscale gothic wedding that blended moody elegance with modern luxury, a perfect reflection of their personalities. Deep red roses, black calla lilies, and burgundy hydrangeas created a dramatic and passionate color story, while candlelight and dark textures added warmth and intensity to the atmosphere.

Venue 808 Wedding Vendors:

Designed at Venue 808, one of San Diego’s most striking urban spaces, the wedding embraced the venue’s industrial architecture—brick walls, steel beams, and lofty windows—and softened it with opulent florals and golden light. The goal was to create a space that felt both elevated and intimate: refined but never predictable. Lush, dramatic blooms spilled across the ceremony arch and dining tables, setting the tone for a day that celebrated love in all its depth and beauty.

For Gina’s bouquet, we designed something truly statement-making: cascading burgundy amaranthus and velvety red roses paired with dark plum tones and subtle black calla lilies. The result was powerful and romantic, perfectly matching her fiery red hair and strong, confident energy. Every design choice carried meaning—rich color for passion, black accents for mystery, and glowing candlelight to illuminate the contrast.

The reception design was where the drama came alive. Long banquet tables were dressed in black linens, gold chargers, and flickering taper candles, creating a sense of luxury and intimacy under Venue 808’s soaring ceilings. We styled the florals low and lush, letting the flowers themselves tell the story—no filler, no fluff, just rich, full blooms that invited guests to lean in and savor the atmosphere. Every arrangement was built to feel abundant yet sophisticated, balancing structure with organic movement.

Working in such a unique downtown San Diego space allowed us to lean fully into the couple’s vision. Venue 808’s moody lighting and architectural textures provided the perfect contrast to the saturated florals and candlelit glow. This wedding was a true collaboration of artistry and emotion—proof that “gothic” doesn’t have to mean dark or heavy; it can be luxurious, romantic, and utterly unforgettable.

Gina and Carlos’s wedding remains one of our favorite examples of how florals can tell a story—one that’s daring, personal, and unapologetically authentic. It was a day filled with energy, laughter, and love, wrapped in rich textures and dramatic color.
